Creating Your Reality Through Focus

We’ve all heard about what has, unfortunately, become a catch-phrase – CREATE YOUR REALITY.

Well, how do you do that, practically speaking? First, you need to focus on the outcome you want to achieve. For most people, some of the most common pillars of a desired outcome are:

  1. Wealth
  2. Health
  3. Relationships
  4. Purpose

As soon as we talk about CREATING and FOCUSING on something, we have to come to the understanding that it is ACTION that would have things go in the direction of our DESIRED REALITY. In this context, reality is, simply put, the sum of everything that takes place, the sum of our actions. Now, if you are present with yourself, you will see that your body will have a reaction whenever you are doing something, especially something new. What it IS, it really is EXCITEMENT (adrenaline), but our patterns and life experiences may translate that as anxiety, worthlessness issues, self-sabotage, lying to oneself, limiting beliefs about what we can or can’t do or have or be… some sort of block intervenes to keep us from the life we want to achieve.

This is how we keep looping into creating that which we do not want: laziness, distractions, constantly changing direction, manifesting some outer drama that keeps us confused, etc.

Let’s take the example of creating health. First, define your focus – research or create for yourself what Health means to you. Clearly define the steps that you need to take to achieve that desired outcome: types of food, supplements, exercise routines, etc. Use the 5 to 0 tool through which, once the decision is made, you count back from 5 to 0 and start doing the things that need to be done in order to achieve your goal immediately. For example: throw away or donate anything you keep in the house as unhealthy food. Take a membership plan at a gym and find an accountability buddy to help with your motivation and consistency. Make an exclusive list of the foods you will buy. Learn to cook those foods in ways that are healthy and taste good to you…

What you might notice next, is some type of “excuse” – not now, I’ll start on Monday, I’ll make this one exception… or – I’m too far gone to be healthy now, people like me are never healthy, I will have to give up too many things I enjoy… or – can’t be bothered to invest this much money/time/energy… or – don’t have the finances to do this properly… you get the idea.

Sometimes, an outer circumstance will seem to appear from nowhere, something will happen that seems like the incontestable reason why you simply can’t go for your goal, at least not right now. You’ll fall in love, your dog will get sick… your ex will call for an emergency, your computer will crash… these are all energetic reasons being manifested in your reality in order to SEEMINGLY give you a reason to postpone or give up your goal alltogether.

What is the solution? BE PRESENT WITH YOURSELF aka Self-Awareness. Be present with the sensations in your body that keep you from taking the next logical step towards your desired reality. Simply be present while you take a bite out of that doughnut. Watch yourself drinking that extra glass of wine. Consistently use this question: What am I doing? Not in the beating yourself up tone, but simply with the scope of gathering information about the second-by-second, minute-by-minute, day-by-day activities that will make up the entirety of one week, then one month, then a year… Trying to force yourself into not eating that doughnut will not work. It will still be a form of indulging in your already over-emphasized worthlessness pattern. Simply remain aware in a way where, at some point, you will clearly see: I am going to buy a doughnut while working on my health. This is a form of cognitive dissonance that your mind will not tolerate for long and it is either one or the other reality that will have to drop – either the doughnut or the desired health plan.

Through self-awareness, you will become able to realize some things about yourself that others see immediately about you – you might think about yourself that you are working too much, when, in fact, you are squandering time on a daily basis, involving yourself in anything but working. You might think you are good at something, some subject that you pay a lot of attention to, but in reality, you do not invest time in meaningful research and study – you just are hypnotized by looking at random meaningless info about it. You might think you are a good person, a good man, a nice woman, but the reality might slap you in the face when you see that you are not caring, don’t show up for people in the way that they need it, are constantly reinforcing hidden agendas, etc… Much much value is to be gained through being present to what you are actually put your energy into.

Here is another example regarding wealth.

  1. Define what wealth means to you in terms of monthly income.
  2. Research or define for yourself how many hours the average person who earns that kind of money actually works per day.
  3. Inquire upon any emotional ceilings you have with regards to how much money you can have. For this, look into how different sums feel in your body – does $10,000 a month seem like an unachievable goal? Why? What do you really think about people who earn that amount of money? Are they evil thieves?
  4. Clearly define the actions that are work and the ones that aren’t – what’s the opposite of work for you? Laziness, distractions, looping/binge-watching out of scope media… etc Eliminate any of those or, if “anxiety” comes, be very present with you indulging in any of them – “I am building my wealth through scrolling on social media”

Creating your own reality literally means becoming aware of every single thing that you do and either transform it, or allow it to drop through consistent authentic awareness upon it. Creating your own reality doesn’t mean dreaming your life away waiting for some Santa. It means consistent focus and authentic sincere engagement with the bits and pieces that constitute the life that you want.
